×The Stonechat is abundant throughout the island in the right habitat especially in the coastal areas and being a resident bird does move out of the breeding season to more productive feeding areas. It is also supplemented during the migration periods with huge numbers of the northern race heading towards their breeding grounds and those normally arrive during April. It breeds lowdown in thick bushes or grass building a compact nest and laying clutches between five and seven eggs.
